2022: ‘hard work’ ain’t what it used to be

“You need to work harder” - maybe. But what does that even mean?

A transcript of the audio above

So this is a bit of a first experiment, as I figure out how I want to redo how and when how I work.

Part of that is how I create content and when and what medium. So it's been working really well honestly to do little audio notes and then transcribe them and edit them to publish.

But sometimes I get stuck for one reason or another.

And so this time, even though there's some good news and background noise, and do an audio note, and I guess that's what that's one point for today.

The other point I'm thinking about is how “hard work” has changed.

In the past, bottlenecks were time and money- the number of hours people could work and the money to be put into something.

And that has really changed for most people. The pandemics accelerated a change that was already underway.

“Hard work” now means dealing with the emotional side of work or life. How do you deal with fear, uncertainty, doubt, and anxiety?

That's really the future of “hard work” - developing emotional smarts.

it's because of the unlimited opportunity we have today, and thus unlimited overwhelm. Two sides of the same coin.
