soooo this morning, surrounded by young kids clamouring for ‘daddy!’ i needed to get some private space to get some adulting done; the fun stuff of bills, emails, finding a place to service a hot tub, flight changes… wheee…
i walked out the door, towards my local fav coffee place (Modern Standard, on Bruntsfield here in Edinburgh).
i’m into snobby coffees: my go-to is an oat latte, but only if the oat milk is Oatly Barista Edition. hey don’t scoff until you’ve tried it! that stuff is amazing, and puts the other mylks and milk to shame IMHO.
i don’t drink it for the caffeine, which doesn’t affect me much by now. i just like the flavour and smell, and I like the idea of coffee. it tastes like success.
there’re studies to say caffeine is bad for you, others that seem to say coffee is good for you… well, I just like it. i’m keeping it. i have no guilt around it, just enjoyment 😊
my earliest and fondest memory of coffee is when my grandmother made “coffee milk” when i was around 7ish. it was mostly milk with a little coffee.
when i started investment banking after college, at Robertson Stephens in San Francisco, working 80-100 hr weeks, i started drinking more consistently. i’d start the day with a super healthy breakfast of pastry and drip coffee with 3 packs of fake sweetener.
i don't drink coffee every day; it’s usually just one cup if i go out to a cafe. at home i drink Mud/Wtr (morning & night) instead of coffee.
fun fact: i only get real enjoyment from the first cup of the day. if i have a second, i just don’t enjoy it as much.
so yeah, i love coffee.

As Grumpy Cat says…
you are strong, you are beautiful, you make the world a better place… oh sorry, i was just talking to my coffee
as my scottish father-in-law told me, the only reason to drink coffee is because you are out of whiskey!
GrumpyCat … There’s something there There. Aha! It reminds me of reading the future in tea leaves except it’s AARON talking to his catty froth! Love it
