soooo… when I first started blogging, it was at Salesforce.com around 2004.
funny enough, at that time blogging (employee constant creation) was banned by SFDC as potentially a problem!! how the world has changed.
I first wrote about sales and my theories on “empowering work” on a few different free wordpress sites, like CEOFlow (which is still closer to my heart than PredRev).
I also didn’t tell many people because I was experimenting. - what did I want to write about, and (as I began sharing posts) what ‘clicked’ with people?
it took about 5 years from starting blogging to publishing my first book.
i’m doing the same thing now (refinding my voice and content system), through this newsletter and in posting videos on TikTok/insta/LI… but this time I’m doing it openly.
I know what I DON’T want right now - pure writing, 1-dimensional business advice (like LinkedIn), or just posting Tiktok dances.
I know SOME of that I do WANT to do …
- to ENJOY creating content!!! So that it adds to my day, not becoming just another chore
- to blaze a new trail for busy leaders on how to do the same (multiplying their impact by being vulnerable and helpful online … in a way that adds to their day vs draining them)
- to create a new way to meet interesting people and learn from team too
forging new ground means new habits and practicing getting over my own constant resistance. It still feels clunky.
my own ‘content creation struggle’ may never go completely away… but as I get more clarity on what/how/when/where I like to create and post, and get some momentum (especially with people like String and my readers involved!), it gets easier and more fun.
I get energy from other people. I don’t enjoy writing and publishing in a vacuum.
so I’d love to hear from you. either what you’re rocking at / struggling with, or what you’d like to hear more of from me.

Reading your text is always a cheerful moment. I feel that you're putting in words what my heart claims and hear it from a recognised business author just make me feel that I'm not wrong, I'm not being naive. It just reinforce that we're right trying to build a different culture in our (still) tiny consultancy.
